Keep The Faith

In the gospel of Luke chapter 8 versus 22 thru 25 the (KJV) bible says, Now it came to pass on a certain day that He (Jesus) went into a ship with His disciples, and He said unto them, let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. But as they sailed, He fell asleep, and there came down a storm of wind on the lake, and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying., Master, Master, we parish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water, and they ceased, and there was a calm. And He said unto them, where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, what manner of man is this? for He commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey Him.

Like us, the early disciples learned the value of developing their faith in Jesus and His Word. A true disciple is not just a student or a learner, but a follower. One who applies what he has learned. Jesus took every opportunity while on the earth to help develop His disciple’s faith. Here in these scriptures, we see that Jesus instructed His disciples to get into a ship with Him and go over to the other side of the lake. Then they moved out in obedience. In the Greek “Let us go over to the other side” means to go through. Jesus was telling them, you have my Word, therefore we are going through to the other side. The enemy will always fight us to keep us from getting to where God is taking us. It’s a faith fight! As the disciples moved forward to go to the other side, the bible says a storm came down on them and they, along with the boat, were filled with water. Do you see it? They were filled with water. The enemy wants to fill us full of fear, doubt, and unbelief, to the point that we don’t see any way out of the storm. BUT JESUS! He was on the ship with them. He who gave the Word to go to the other side never abandoned ship. He never will. Please understand that God did not create the storm to teach them something. I’ve heard people say, God allowed me to get sick, get hurt, suffer lost and heartache to teach me something. NO! The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

God’s church, our families and children, as well as out nation, is in an unprecedented battle such as we have never seen before. The enemy has declared an all-out war against God’s people. Many are full of fear, worry, and unbelief. BUT GOD! Like the disciples, many are asking how can Jesus sleep when we are in the middle of this storm? How come He is not doing anything about this? Here’s the answer-He has given us His Word! We will make it

through this and get to the other side. When the disciples woke Jesus up and told Him their situation, He rebuked the wind and the waves, and they became calm. I believe the winds and the waves in them became calm when Jesus rebuked the storm and then they say a natural manifestation of it when the wind and the waves became calm. Jesus then turned to His disciples and ask, “Where is your faith?” Like the disciples, we must also locate our faith and find out where it is. Do we have more faith in the storm, or do we have more faith in the Word of God? God is moving His church, our families, and our nation through a tumultuous time, but we will come through with triumph. God always wins. KEEP THE FAITH!
