Nothing Is Wasted

One of the most personal things someone can own is a journal. It is something that they hold dear to their heart. A journal is a place that people can be real and authentic with themselves without the fear of judgment. A journal is where people can express how they feel and what they are going through. They trace their steps during the day and take note of life’s happenings. When one journals, they reflect on the daily experiences that they went through and how these experiences affected their life.

The very word journal means a personal record of occurrences, experiences, and reflections kept on a regular basis. So, we can say that a journal reflects our life. Great men and women in our culture have written what they call memoirs. Like a journal, it is a written account in which someone describes past experiences. Why are we so interested in what other people have gone through? It makes them more relatable. It shows like us, that they are human; that we have all things in common. One day, Holy Spirit spoke to me and said, “Journal your journey, so when you show up at your destination, you will have a story to tell.” No one can tell your story like you can and there are those who need to hear it.

Isaiah 43:2 (AMPC) says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned or scorched, nor will the flame kindle upon you.” Here we have the promise of God, that whenever we find ourselves going through seasons in our life where trouble is on every side and we cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel; when the fiery trails of our faith have been turned up and it looks like we are being consumed, He will bring us through! Journal as you go through as well as how God brought you through. Then you will have something to say, and God will see to it that you have an audience, even if it is just one. Nothing is wasted. To have something wasted is to use, consume, spend, or expend thoughtlessly or carelessly. It is regarded or discarded as worthless or useless. You are so valuable to God that before you were ever formed in your mother’s belly, He journaled your journey here on the earth. He has already considered everything you will ever go through and determined nothing will be wasted. The Lord says it will be used for my Glory, so TELL YOUR STORY!

  1. Billy, this just confirms what I have been doing for 9 years. I get a big notebook every January 1st, and I journal. I always begin with a scripture, and I center my writing to God around it. My children and grandchildren will get these one day. Thank you, my brother, for always presenting such good word.

  2. I love this just like the little boy that shared his fish and two loves of bread. JESUS told them to pick up the fragments that nothing be wasted. This was an AWESOME WORD from you. Thank GOD the Holy Spirit works through you👏👏👏

  3. Thank you for this reminder. Great advice and so important! I sometimes forget things I have been through, and how God helped me through. Having a journal helps me remember.
